Resident Conductor Nathan Aspinall makes his Classical Series debut with a program exploring passion, obsession, and orchestral brilliance.
The evening opens with György Ligeti’s vibrant Concert Românesc, a folk-inspired work bursting with color and rhythmic vitality. Violinist Benjamin Beilman then takes center stage in Benjamin Britten’s powerful and emotionally charged Violin Concerto No. 1, a work of striking intensity and lyricism.
The program culminates in Hector Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique — the quintessential Romantic fever dream — a sweeping musical narrative of love, hallucination, and orchestral innovation.
