Timothy Simpson

Timothy Simpson is a Kentucky native and received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Western Kentucky University

During his time at WKU he sang Faust in the Opera Department's production of Faust, and El Remendado in Carmen as his first role in any production. He was a member of the WKU Chamber Singers, University Choir, and also participated in the Western Shaker Singers ensemble, reenacting the Shaker worship service at Pleasant Hill Shaker Village near Harrodsburg, Kentucky. He attended the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York and earned his Masters Degree in Performance and Literature. He sang the lead role of Hans in "The Bartered Bride" and Toby in "Robinson Crusoe" in the main-stage productions of the Opera Department.

He was a member of the Chautauqua Opera Studio and Apprentice programs for two summers before departing for the Zürich International Opera Studio in Switzerland. He entered his first full time engagement with the Stadttheater Bremerhaven, where he was engage for 3 years. Roles included Ferrando in "Cosi fan tutte", Steva in "Jenufa", Cassio in "Otello", Fenton in "The Merry Wives of Windsor", Andres in "Wozzeck", and Caramello in "A Night in Venice". Engagements in Osnabrück, Karlsruhe, Gelsenkirchen-Wuppertal, Bonn, and Mönchengladbach followed. He performed the repertoire of the lyric, spinto, and heldentenor fachs.
